For PADI IDC and Divemaster candidates in Roatan

Pro House Accommodation

The Pro House is the Go Pro Caribbean accommodation we run for our IDC and Divemaster candidates in Roatan. It's a 13-bedroom purpose-built house on a fenced acre in West End — a four-minute walk from Coconut Tree Divers, with private bathrooms in every room, a private pool, and rates that start at $5/night. Built for pros who are training for months, not tourists in for a week.

What's in the house

The Pro House sits on a fenced one-acre property in West End, four minutes' walk from Coconut Tree Divers. We share the acre with Roatan Oasis — the West End restaurant next door, which Will also owns. The shared acre gives the property a quiet, secured boundary, a pool used by guests of both businesses, and an easy walking landmark for new arrivals.

There are two room types under one roof — lower-level ensuite rooms and split-level loft apartments — and every room has a private bathroom.

Lower-level ensuite rooms (7 rooms). Seven small ensuite rooms occupy the lower level. They share a communal kitchen, and each opens onto outside deck space which keeps them naturally cool — most guests choose to skip air conditioning here. Each room has its own fridge and ensuite bathroom. They're similar in scale to a cruise-ship cabin: enough for one person to live comfortably, not enough to spread out in.

Split-level loft apartments (3 apartments, 6 bedrooms). Three loft apartments offer two bedrooms each, sharing one bathroom and one kitchen between the two rooms. The lower bedroom is comfortable without air conditioning; the upstairs bedroom is air-conditioned only — the loft height makes it too warm without. The stairs to the upper bedroom are steep. Apartments suit IDC candidates who want more space, and couples where both partners are doing the Divemaster programme; they aren't available for solo Divemaster candidates.

Across the property. WiFi in every room and shared area. The swimming pool — shared with Roatan Oasis next door, so guests of both businesses use it. The whole acre is fenced for security.

Pricing

Rates depend on which course you're here for and whether you want air conditioning.

If you’re here for the… Divemaster programme Lower-level rooms only for solo candidates. Apartments are open to couples where both partners are doing the Divemaster.
Lower-level ensuite room
From $10/night · no AC $20/night · with AC
Naturally cool thanks to outside deck space — most guests skip AC here.
Loft apartment (couples both doing Divemaster)
$20/night · no AC $30/night · with AC
Apartment rate for the couple. Solo Divemaster candidates stay in lower-level ensuite rooms.
If you’re here for the… Instructor Development Course Both room types open to IDC candidates — pick the one that suits your dates and your tolerance for stairs.
Lower-level ensuite room
From $5/night · no AC $15/night · with AC
Naturally cool — outside deck access keeps these rooms ventilated.
Loft apartment (room within a 2-bedroom apartment)
From $15/night · no AC $25/night · with AC
Two bedrooms share one bathroom and one kitchen. Upstairs bedroom is AC-only.
How AC works in the pricing Air conditioning adds $10/night across every room type. Lower-level rooms are naturally cooler thanks to outside deck space and shade — most guests skip AC there. Apartment upstairs rooms are AC-only by necessity (the loft height makes them too warm without). Rates above are per room per night and bundle into your IDC or Divemaster package — see packages and pricing.

Private rooms. Never dorms.

Booking, deposit, and finding the right fit

Deposit policy. To reserve a room in advance, the deposit is $300, paid up front. This isn't a security deposit you get back at the end — it's an advance payment that goes against the cost of your first nights here. Bookings made within two weeks of arrival skip the deposit. IDC candidates whose course materials purchase is on file are not asked for a room deposit — your kit purchase is sufficient assurance you're coming.

What "non-refundable" means. The advance payment is not refunded if you decide to move into another property after arrival. To make the maths concrete: an air-conditioned room at $20/night is fully covered by the $300 deposit for fifteen nights — so you have a two-week window to either settle in or scout local options without losing any value on the payment.

Landing pad, or full stay — both work. For most guests the Pro House meets their needs perfectly for the whole training period. For some it's a little too basic, or they happen to hear of a better-fit apartment by word of mouth and choose to move. That's fine — the Pro House works equally well as your full-stay home or as an affordable landing pad while you scout the local market. Either way, having a confirmed room before you arrive removes one variable from the trip.

Other budget options in the area

West End has a real word-of-mouth rental market for stays of one to three months — apartments and small guesthouses that aren't listed online and only become available when someone moves out. The honest read: any West End property that's both budget-priced and a short walk from Coconut Tree Divers tends to be unavailable for advance booking. Most candidates either stay with us for the full course, or use the Pro House as a landing pad while they look around once they're on the ground.

Where to look:

  • The Roatan Rentals Facebook group — this is the main one. Word-of-mouth West End rentals surface here, often last-minute. Check it daily for a week or two before arrival, and again once you're on the island.

  • Casa del Sol Roatan — a small West End option to enquire with directly via their Facebook page. Availability varies.

  • Hidden Garden Cabins — another West End option worth an enquiry. Same caveat: availability is unpredictable, and what's bookable in advance is rare.

Mention these so you can see what's around. The Pro House is built for the candidates we train; the alternatives above are run by other people and we can't speak to their availability or current condition. Treat them as starting points for your own enquiries.

How much does the accommodation cost?

Lower-level ensuite rooms start at $5/night for IDC candidates and $10/night for Divemaster candidates. Air conditioning adds $10/night across all room types. Loft apartments are $15/night for IDC candidates (and $20/night for couples both doing the Divemaster) — see the pricing panel above for the full matrix.

Are the rooms private or dorm-style?

Every room is private with its own bathroom. We never offer dorm-style accommodation. Lower-level rooms are designed for a single person; the loft apartments suit couples or guests who want more space.

How far is the Pro House from the dive shop?

A four-minute walk to Coconut Tree Divers, on the edge of West End. Same walking distance back to the bars and restaurants on Half Moon Bay.

What is the deposit policy?

A $300 advance payment confirms your booking. This is not a security deposit — it is applied directly to your first nights at the Pro House. Bookings made within two weeks of arrival skip the deposit. IDC candidates whose course materials purchase is on file are not asked for a room deposit either. The advance payment is not refunded if you choose to move into other accommodation after arrival.

Are there pets on the property?

Three friendly dogs live on the property. We mention them so anyone with a serious aversion to dogs knows before booking — they are not a feature, they are a household reality.

Are the apartments available to single Divemaster candidates?

No. The loft apartments are reserved for IDC candidates and for couples where both partners are doing the Divemaster programme. Single Divemaster candidates stay in lower-level ensuite rooms.

Roatan Oasis next door. Half Moon Bay 4 minutes away.
