A note on PADI fees

The package prices shown are Go Pro Caribbean fees. PADI charges its own fees separately, covering instructor registration, Instructor Examination entry and specialty applications. They are itemised in full below, and the all-in totals in the table include them.

What is not included in the package price?

PADI fees are charged directly by PADI and are not included in any package price. Every package carries the same required fees: Instructor Examination entry $825, PADI instructor application $235 and EFR Instructor application $152 — $1,212 in total. On the course-only and course-plus-accommodation packages the Enriched Air Nitrox and Emergency Oxygen Provider applications are $96 each, $192 for the pair. Those two are genuinely optional: the training is included in every IDC, and you can decline both applications and still certify as an Open Water Scuba Instructor. Including them gives $1,404 in PADI fees and all-in totals of $3,654 and $3,794. On the five-specialty package all five specialty applications are filed together on one combined form at $384, which certifies the three ratings you have paid to train for, giving $1,596 in PADI fees and an all-in total of $4,311. The only other charges are the Wreck and Sidemount surcharges described below.

Does the five-specialty package include accommodation?

Yes. The $2,715 five-specialty package includes 28 nights in a private en-suite room at the Go Pro Caribbean accommodation house — the same accommodation included in the course-plus-accommodation package. The house is a short walk from Coconut Tree Divers in West End. Additional nights beyond the 28 are $5 per night.

Which specialties can I choose for the five-specialty package?

Go Pro Caribbean offers 18 specialties in Roatan. Two — Enriched Air Nitrox and Emergency Oxygen Provider — are part of every IDC package, so the five-specialty package adds three further specialty instructor certifications of your choice from the remaining 16. Recommended specialties for Roatan include Deep, Night, Underwater Photography and Fish Identification. A surcharge of $100 applies to Wreck Specialty Instructor and $250 to Sidemount Specialty Instructor; all other specialties are at no additional charge. Sidemount also requires that you already hold the Sidemount Diver certification — we run that course for $400 if you do not.

What are the 10 complimentary fun dives?

Every IDC package includes 10 fun dives on Roatan's reef — valued at $500 — in addition to all training dives completed during the IDC itself. Will recommends completing at least 30 dives in the four weeks before your IDC begins, and ideally closer to 60. The 10 included dives count toward that total.

Can I book accommodation if I choose the course-only package?

Yes. The course-only package simply means accommodation nights are not included by default — it is not a restriction on where you stay. All Go Pro Caribbean IDC candidates have access to accommodation at $5 per night for a private en-suite room, or $10 per night per room in a two-bedroom apartment with a private kitchen. Air conditioning adds $10 per night to any room. The accommodation house is purpose-built, has a private pool, and is a short walk from Coconut Tree Divers.
