Every IDC at Go Pro Caribbean includes 10–12 days of intensive PADI Instructor Development Course training, the EFR (Emergency First Response) Instructor certification, and the 2-day PADI Instructor Examination — all conducted in Roatan. Course materials are charged separately ($600). All rental equipment during training is provided free of charge; candidates will need their own dive computer, SMB, and finger reel.

No. The PADI Instructor Examination (IE) is conducted in Roatan at the conclusion of every IDC. Your entire instructor certification journey — IDC, EFR Instructor, and IE — is completed without leaving Roatan. This is a significant logistical and cost advantage compared with many other training destinations where the IE requires separate travel.

Our IDC dates are anchored to the official PADI Instructor Examination schedule, and the IE date moves around within each month. Because the IDC always begins on a Monday twelve days before the IE weekend, three courses in 2027 begin in the closing days of the month before — the June course starts 31 May, September starts 30 August, and December starts 29 November. Each course is still listed under the month its IE falls in, so book by the month you want to qualify in and check the start date on the card.

We recommend booking 2–3 months in advance, particularly for peak season courses (January–August) which fill consistently. A $300 non-refundable deposit secures your place. Contact Will directly via WhatsApp or email to check current availability for your preferred date.

The IDC requires a current PADI Divemaster certification and 100 logged dives. If you are not yet a Divemaster, we offer complete training pathways from any certification level — including complete beginners — through to Instructor. Yes. Go Pro Caribbean runs the Pro House — a 4-minute walk from the dive shop, with private bathrooms in every room. For IDC candidates: lower-level ensuite rooms from $5/night (or $15/night with AC), and loft apartments from $15/night (or $25/night with AC). Air conditioning adds $10/night across all room types. No separate room deposit is required for IDC candidates once course materials are purchased — see the accommodation page for full details.

Most nationalities receive a 90-day tourist visa on arrival in Honduras at no charge. Visa extensions are available for longer stays. Notably, British passport holders are currently required to obtain a Honduran visa before travel — contact the Honduran consulate or embassy in your country well in advance of your departure date.
