Use Surface Interval Mode. Enter the details of dive 1 (or the ending pressure group if given), then enter the depth and planned time of dive 2. The device returns the minimum surface interval required between the two dives.

How do you plan a dive in cold water using the eRDPml?

When diving in cold water or in conditions that are physically demanding, the RDP requires that you treat yourself as if you are one pressure group higher than the table calculates. After finding your actual ending pressure group, move one letter up the alphabet before entering the surface interval step. This applies to both the eRDPml and the RDP Table.

How do you find the maximum depth for a repetitive dive using the eRDPml?

Use Maximum Depth Mode. After completing the surface interval step, the device asks for the planned time of dive 2 and returns the maximum allowable depth for that time. Note that Rule 9 still applies — the repetitive dive must be shallower than dive 1 regardless of what the device calculates.

What is the standard two-dive diagram used for eRDPml exam questions?

Draw two horizontal lines representing the two dives, with the deeper dive on the left. Label each line with slots for depth and time. Add a pressure group box at the end of dive 1, a surface interval box between the dives, a starting pressure group box at the beginning of dive 2, and an ending pressure group box at the end of dive 2. Fill in all known values from the question before picking up the device — the blank box is the answer you are calculating.
